Audi SQ5 TDI Plus revealed

The Audi SQ5 TDI Plus has been unveiled and detailed ahead of the 2015 Frankfurt motor show, which starts next week.

For this new variant, Audi has increased the injection pressure in the SQ5's 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 diesel engine to deliver a dollop of extra performance. Now rated at 250kW of power and 700Nm of torque, the SQ5 TDI Plus's engine has 20kW and 50Nm more than the 230kW/650Nm version in the regular SQ5 TDI.

All-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox are standard, as is a sports differential for the rear axle.

Despite the extra suds, the Plus version isn't any faster from 0-100km/h, requiring the same 5.1 seconds as the regular of the SQ5 TDI. The top speed in both cars is electronically limited to 250km/h.

The SQ5 TDI Plus rides on standard 21-inch alloy wheels shod with 255/40 tyres. Other standard features in the Plus include leather covered armrests, Nappa leather seats with a silver-stitched diamond quilting pattern, and gloss black rear spoiler, wing mirrors and rear diffuser.

In Germany, at least, a limited run of 100 SQ5 TDI Plus models will be available with a special equipment package prepared by the Quattro tuning division. These cars are distinguished by their macaw blue paint (seen above), matching interior stitching, and sports seats covered in Nappa leather.

The SQ5 TDI Plus goes on sale in Europe from October 2015.
