Bentley 4WD (SUV)

June 27, 2006 by Alborz Fallah

The Porsche Cayenne was a big wake up call for supercar brand Porsche as they realized they can sell big 4WDs (SUVs) to their current 911 owners by persuading them into buying the Cayenne instead of a BMW X5 or a Mercedes Benz M-class. Bentley seems to have taken a page out of Porsche’s book of revival and are rumoured to be working on their own Cayenne beater, yes, a Bentley 4WD (SUV).

Given that Bentley is owned by VolksWagen, and VolksWagen have worked with Porsche on the Cayenne and their own Touareg, the Bentley 4WD will most likely be based on the same platform but be powered by either the Arnage’s 6.75-litre V8 (475 bhp) or the Continental GT’s 6.0 L W12 Twin-Turbo (560 bhp). More news to come!

Thankfully though, someone had the time to actually ask Bentley themselves! Reilly Brennan from Winding Road went asked Bentley’s new general manager for public relations, David P. Reuter, if the Bentley SUV was actually in existance. [...]
