2016 Lexus LX570 revealed

The facelifted 2016 Lexus LX570 has been revealed today, following more than a month of leaked photos and spilled information.

The updated Lexus LX570 was revealed at The Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance in California alongside the new GS200t luxury sedan, ahead of the arrival of both new models in Australia in December 2015.

The changes to the new LX are marked, with the Japanese company stating that only the doors and the roof are unchanged, while the styling modifications are fairly substantial.

There's a bold new front-end design with a sharp "spindle" grille that brings the big bus into line with some of the more aggressively styled offerings in the brand's range, including its two smaller SUV siblings the NX and RX.

Under the bonnet, the 5.7-litre V8 petrol engine remains, but instead of the existing six-speed automatic, there's a new eight-speed auto. It's unclear if there have been any changes to the power outputs of the engine, which in the current model are 270kW and 530Nm.

That eight-speed auto should have an impact on fuel consumption, which is currently claimed at 14.8 litres per 100 kilometres.

There's also a new Drive Mode Select system that can change the way the powertrain behaves, and also alter the suspension character, too. There's the choice of new-look 20-inch split 10-spoke wheels, or optional 21-inch rims for those after a more "commanding road presence".

Inside there are some major differences between the new version and the old, such as an updated media system with a large 12.3-inch screen and Lexus' remote touch interface, while the driver information screen is bigger now, too (4.2-inch). See below for a list of the new items on offer in the LX.

Lexus Australia chief executive Sean Hanley stated that the facelifted LX and GS will add some extra flair to the brand's local line-up.

"LX 570 and the new GS Line including GS 200t continue Lexus' product-led strategy, delivering with confident new styling, performance, technology and luxury features," Hanley said.

"We look forward to introducing these new models to the Australian market in December."
