HSV launches countdown to E Series 2

With Holden set to unveil its VE Series II range tomorrow, HSV has also begun its countdown to the launch date of the new E Series 2 line up.

The next generation HSV range is due to arrive on September 9 boasting a series of design, equipment and powertrain upgrades - as well as many firsts for an Australian production car.

Current reports suggest a new LPi variant will be introduced into the range which should significantly reduce the running costs of the big V8 while maintaining performance.

The GTS is also expected to receive added street credibility to reinforce its status as the HSV performance flagship with a few extra kilowatts from the LS3 engine.

"HSV continues to lead the way with this new range. More design point of difference. More options. More firsts for Australian production cars. More investment. This is a serious new car story. And a very exciting one at that."

Unlike its Holden counterparts, the new HSV range is expected to look quite different from the current models with the addition of a G8-style vented bonnet a strong possibility.

A new front fascia and side skirts are guaranteed while LED daytime running lights have become a popular topic for speculation.

The level of customisation should also be improved with new owners able to create a genuinely unique car straight from the showroom thanks to a raft of new optional accessories.
