Subaru Forester 2.5i-L Special Edition launches at $34,990

The entry 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i-L variant will be briefly available in Special Edition guise, with a number of high-value add-ons — many of which are particularly winter-friendly.

The Forester 2.5i-L Special Edition gets extra equipment over the regular version such as electric leather-trimmed seats with perforated inserts, push-button start, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry and 17-inch alloy wheels.

You also get snowfield-friendly features such as front seat heating, heated door mirrors and a front wiper de-icer.

The extra features come at an impost of $2000 over the regular 126kW/235Nm 2.5i-L petrol with CVT automatic, taking the price to $34,990 plus on-road costs.

All versions of the Forester, in Subaru fashion, come with full-time symmetrical all-wheel-drive.

“Forester remains a firm favourite in our family-friendly All-Wheel Drive range and this special edition underlines its value on top of the proven Subaru traits of durability, safety, rock-solid engineering and retained value,” said Subaru Australia managing director Nick Senior.

The company has a flexible number of the Special Editions to offer, but supply is finite to a point.

Subaru has sold 5678 Foresters this year, which is actually down 16.8 per cent in a segment up 11.0 per cent. It’s still the fourth best-seller in the segment behind the Mazda CX-5, Nissan X-Trail and Toyota RAV4, though there’s some stiff new competition in the just-launching Hyundai Tucson.
