Morgan AR Plus 4 unveiled

The British sports car maker has released the limited run Morgan AR Plus 4 to celebrate the model's 65th anniversary.

Based on the Plus 4, which as been in production since 1950, the AR Plus 4 was developed by Morgan's racing division, AR Motorsport.

Under the bonnet, which now features extra sets of vents, is a Cosworth-fettled 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ford engine that's been tuned to deliver 168kW of power, making it the most powerful Plus 4 model to date. By comparison, the regular Plus 4 makes do with 115kW/201Nm.

In addition to the extra serving of power, the AR Plus 4 also features a new suspension setup, adjustable shock absorbers, a different axle ratio and an uprated braking package with vented discs up front. Power steering remains an optional extra.

The Morgan AR Plus 4 rides on 16-inch alloy wheels shod with Yokohama ADO 48R rubber, while illumination comes courtesy of LED head- and tail-lights.

On the inside, the AR Plus 4 features plenty of leather; a 4.1-channel sound system; extra sound proofing; untrimmed aluminium door, dash and trim pieces; and box weave carpeting on the floor, sills and centre tunnel.

Just 50 AR Plus 4s will be produced by Morgan, with the car receiving its public debut at this weekend's Silverstone Classic.
