The petrol X-trail is a better bet than the new diesel version. I own a diesel X-Trail and it has an oil leak which continuously contaminates the EGR valve and air filter, affecting performance. Nissan has been trying to fix the problem for 8 months, but no permanent solution on the horizon.

The Diesel X-trail is a lemon.

Adventure may sound nice but I'd still choose the previous Xtrail. I don't like the look of this new model.

TomR and BS Blaster, so true!!
Funny thing is the advert also ends with the line "X-trail, not for Pretenders!" Hmmm.... How Ironic...

As for being most capable soft-roader, i don't know about that... I reckon freelander 2 is probably the best off-road capable soft-roader. Also for similar money, you can the suzuki grand vitara, which is not a soft-roader but a light duty 4wd!!

Anyway, I personaly wouldn't compromise, and for the same money get myself a wrangler swb....

Or as TomR said, a small econo hatch/wagon and an old tough 4x4!!

Like the overall design, the wheels are ugly. A shame, as the vehicle itself is one of the best in its class.

Bahahahaha what idiots? Stupid advertisement!!! To be honest, the X-trail is the most capable of the soft roaders, but its still a soft roader!!! I still dont like Sports Useless Vehicles though. Id rather buy an I30CW and a twenty year old Nissan Patrol Diesel. Cheaper overall and far more versatile... Just need another space in the garage.

I don't understand the tv advert, something along the lines of "In a world where other manufacturers went into Soft-roaders, the nissan x-trail didn't". WTF??? Are they trying to tell us the x-trail isn't a soft roader?

Andrew,

My Xtrail only has two badges on the tailgate;

X-Trail
Ti

Three if you count Nissan logo as a badge, every car has their brand logo i thought.

The one you mentioned that have those badges are the old model T30 :)

Agreed with Baddass, Kluger just have too many bagdes, my brothers have them, both old and current model.
