2007 Holden Commodore Ute Sprung and Spied!
July 5, 2007 by Paul Maric
One of our readers has sent in photos of Holden’s yet to be released Utility.
Presumably a base model Utility, it’s obvious that the front and front-side architecture is similar to the sedan variants. The faux air vents remain, as do beefed up wheel arches – even on this base model!
The following computer generated rendering seems to accurately reflect the new Utility’s stance and design. Several attributes are mimicked in the spy photographs, namely the flared wheel arches, relocation of fuel filler and continued existence of faux air vents.

The photographer informs CarAdvice that the interior remained covered. It’s unlikely that the dashboard layout will vary too much from the sedan variant. The shape of the rear headlights still remains anyone’s guess.
The fact that the rear has also been covered up suggests that a new tail-light design will be employed on the new model to differentiate it from the previous generation.
The delayed release of the Holden Ute suggests that Holden may still be testing the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) for inclusion in the Ute.
Previous spy photographs taken by DirtBikeWorld show a better example of the front end and also an earlier development mule. The new Ute photographed is a newer generation to the following photographs taken. The new Ute photographed is most probably a final version and will portray the completed product that will roll off the line.

An indication that the rear light cluster will change from the vertical stack are hinted at by the following images taken by an LS1.com.au forums member. The image shows a wrap-around rear light setup, explaining why rear car bras have been used on all of Holden’s prototype Utilities.
One thing’s for certain though, it’s bound to be one brutal Ute when HSV get their hands on it and fit a 6.0-litre V8. Until then, be prepared for more from Holden in the coming months prior to their Ute’s release. They most certainly don’t want hype and spy shots of Ford’s new Orion Utility stealing the limelight!
Remember, if you have any spy photos of Holden’s new Ute – or any other vehicle for that matter – contact CarAdvice, if the photos are decent, we’re willing to pay cash (more than the major magazines). High-resolution copies of the images attached are available. Please contact CarAdvice to request copies.

I don’t really care what the rest of you negative guys say! I will buy one as soon as it comes to the US of A!!!
hahahaha
I’m lik da litte cok wit da smell hads i lik smel sht arnd suk coks 2
When you see the base model pics of any car no matter what make, they always seem to be a bit ugly. I have seen the VE SS UTE pics and I like what I see.
You can tell that nearly every negative comment in this blog towards the VE must come from ford fanatics…..so I won’t sate the obvious about those people.
Or its just people who just spent their cash on the remaining VZ range and they need to justify their own piece of mind.
Or they are just people who have herd someone they admire bag the VE so they then adapt the same opinion because they are to scared to find their own as they have no brain.
To all these people: you’re a f’ing waste of space on this planet, nothing but oxygen thieves. If you genuinely don’t like it, fine go and post you crappy comments on your own web site and stop wasting space here.
As a proud aussie I like my holdens and don’t mind the fords either, So I say congratulations to holden for having the balls to taking a leap on an all new car.
I’m pretty sure all this crap went on when thay released the VT but it did alright in sales.
Cheers.
i got GTS hsv VE it such a gorjes car and i love it also i got MALOO HSV it the best cars i drive in the world.
i drive M power and AMG but the VE HSV its the best car .
and i going to get the new ute
REGGIE… you are proud of being Aussie and love your Holdens. The Kombidore is the only Holden. You love your OPEL / VAUXHALL spin offs which prop Holden up. HOLDEN (1 model made downunder) MEANS A GREAT DEAL TO AUSTRALIA! You should be asking for more cars to be made downunder and stop living in the cave in the dark ages like Holden is an iconic Aussie car maker!
Hahaha love it!!!! go HOLDEN

“THE ONLY AUSSIE MADE HOLDEN IS NOT JUST A COMMODORE”
There was the “KINGSWOOD” “TORANA” “HR’s” “FB’s” and so on….there has been many cars that are Holden’s own and made in Austrailia, so were have you been living for the last 40 plus years????? Obviously not in Australia. Try learning a little about what your commenting on first mate.
As to your comment: “OPEL / VAUXHALL spin offs” they only prop up holden in regards to the small car market………..and who cares about them anyway…….I don’t. They might help in sales but I wouldn’t say they prop em up either.
So what’s your comment towards me, got to do with what I was talking about in my post……I’ll tell ya….bloody nothing. just another oxygen theif.
I saw the VE UTE LAUNCH last night at the Docklands, They had on show the OMEGA, SV6, SS & SSV.
To see them in the flesh and sit in them was nice, I like how they have turned out. The biggest thing I was looking for was more space behind the seats and yes thay have done it, not as much as fords space cab but its still much better than past models. They have put quick release levers on the shoulders of the seats so you can quickly flip the seats forward for loading access behind them. The numberplate is now on the tail gate accross the range, stability control on all models “but can be turned off and on via a button” there a few other little things but they are the main ones i can think of. All in all…..i like it
Regards to all.
this ute looks like a station wagon that has been brumby’d in someones backyard!!! what a piece of cucka!
“hahahah, please. The VE has to be biggest letdown in Australian design. With all the billion dollar baby HYPE, i was expecting so much more from Holden. Seems my disappointment can now be extended to the Ute.”
Jpmaster, PLEASE tell me you are joking? The VE is not the biggest design let down in a Australia! It’s not a let down all together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s nice!
The Ford Falcon AU was a let down for design. Wasn’t it?
^Even if you think about it, it (the AU) was known for bad reliability. (most of them).
