Holden’s Reuss gets top job in Detroit

General Motors Company, in its final round of senior executive shake-ups following its July 10 exit from Chapter 11 bankruptcy, has named the outgoing GM Holden president and managing director, Mark Reuss, as vice president of global vehicle engineering.

The very senior post for Mr Reuss, 45, means he will replace GM veterans Jim Queen, 60, group vice president, global engineering, and Ed Koerner, 59, GM North American vice president, engineering, who are both retiring.

"Our goal was to streamline our leadership team and put some of our best executives in positions where they can use their diverse perspectives and extensive global experience to create the new GM," GM CEO Fritz Henderson said in a statement.

Mr Reuss, replaced last week in his GM Holden position by sales and marketing director Alan Batey, joined GM in 1983 as a student intern and has held several top positions since 2001 before joining Holden in 2008.

In a move that sees yet another senior administrator leave GM Europe, the financial troubled subsidiary that is being sold off, Eric Stevens, currently GM Europe vice president, manufacturing, will be named vice president, global manufacturing engineering.

Also of interest is the news that another former GM Holden president and managing director, Denny Mooney, currently vice president, global vehicle systems and integration, will retire.

"Today's announcements, in addition to the moves that we've announced throughout the month of July, complete the changes to GM's senior leadership team," Mr Henderson said in the statement.
