    Yep – a winner.

Sure to sell 50s and 60s metal by the truckload.

  • zahmad

Awesome campaign!…interesting to say the least.

  • Acfsambo

Some clever quotes, especially the last one.

  • Tomas79

Got to say though, these ads are far better then the current range of Holden Cruze tv advertss…
The women with her dry voice telling us how closing the door produces a solid thud, and how economical the cruze is (Even though my bigger D4d Prado has lower fuel consumption according to real life tests…), really, really gets on my nerves…

  • The Realist

“Holden means a great deal to Australia”

Someone should have warned the ACCC regarding false advertising when that ad was released.

  • Casey

These aren’t ads from the past, they’re photoshopped rubbish from some email!

  • charles

If any of my comment gets removed, this Forum is an absolute joke. What ever happened to free speech? Its only an opinion, God its like being back in primary school getting dobbed in to a teacher, certain pathetic people can`t handle a bad word said about their beloved CRAPODORES. As I said GM`s current slogan should read ” WE WENT BROKE BECAUSE WE BUILD SH%T”

  • VW Freak

LOL, watch out Charles, you’ll end up down the same path as our beloved Toyota-loving Dingo.

  • Anthony

Charles – If you have noticed no-one can actually report you or dob you in to the teacher.

The only way you comments will get deleted is if they are deemed to be offensive [full of personal attacks and insults] not to mention off topic…. you would be aware of this if you happened to read the code of conduct.

What happens now is that people can vote as to whether or not they agree with what you’re saying.. by giving you the thumbs up or thumbs down.

If the difference is 9 or greater – the moderators review your comment then decide whether or not it breaches the Code of Conduct.. if its deemed that your comments breach the Code they will be deletedl if it doesn’t your comment will be restored and the thumbs will disappear

However; having said that there are some people who will vote you down; not because of what is being said.. its just that they think the person making the comment is an idiot….. Sad but true

  • Wheelnut®™

Well then Charles if your comments were insightful as opposed to being inciteful then they might not get deleted now would they?

  • charles

Well just because my comments aren`t insightful to you NUT doesn`t mean they aren`t to others, but your probably one of those who like ugly green Commodore Utes.

  • SteveH

Wheelnut, you are the first with the inciteful comments on the Toyota threads, so you have to be prepared to cop it as well.

  • Ross R

Well all we need is Tomas and the b!tchin can really start.

  • Tomas79

    Wheelnut®™ Says:
“Well then Charles if your comments were insightful as opposed to being inciteful then they might not get deleted now would they?”

Hmmm… Interesting, so Wheelnut how do you explain getting temporarily banned on this site a few times?

Ross R, are you old enough to even own a driving licence yet??

You’re close Casey, these posters are for an event (Woodward Dream Cruise Weekend in Detroit) back in 2001…

Ahh good to see some cars from GM’s Golden Years, when they were building real cars, not the front-wheel-drive, plastic pieces of crap rolling off the production lines today. Love the Chevelle SS, along with the stuff from around ’55 and ’56

  • gearboxdawg

classic ads. with GM out of bankruptcy, lets hope we see more innovations.

  • Tony

all great cars, all classics, all pretty much out of the price range of most people even americans

but this is a part of the problem

GM wants to look back to the great years of 1957 to about 1971 and really… that’s over 30 yrs ago

how come there’s no great cars from the 1980s? or the 1990s?

that’s because GM have been looking to past glories for the last few decades

they haven’t made a profit since 2004 because in their hearts, they want things to be like 1965 when they were making money hand over fist with no competition

a few of my favourite cars are shown above but this incredible inability to get over the past, as great as it was, is why GM will never have a future… or at least any future that’s not a burden on the American taxpayer

  • swampdawg

The e-mail these ads were circulated in can now be corrected, some suggestons are,

“The Original American Idol, now a South Korean Import”

“They don’t write songs about Daewoos”

“we gave it wings and it flew, to south Korea”
