Nissan Australia’s Takata airbag recall reaches nearly 191,000 vehicles

This latest announcement makes up 25,707 vehicles in that tally, affecting front passenger airbags of models across the D22 Navara, Y61 Patrol, T30 X-Trail and J31 Maxima ranges. Affected models were built between April 2007 and December 2008.

In June, Nissan announced a recall on 98,915 models in the N16 Pulsar, Y61 Patrol, D22 Navara, J31 Maxima and T30 X-Trail lines, built between January 2004 and March 2007.

At the same time, Nissan amended an earlier recall from 2013/2014, affecting 16,092 models across the same lines, built between April 2003 to December 2003.

In both cases, the recall was issued for the front passenger airbag specifically.

Nissan has previously announced Takata-related recalls in November 2014, June 2014 and April 2013.

The November 2014 recall affected the K13 Micra only, for driver airbags in 12,859 models built between September 2010 and November 2011.

The earlier June 2014 recall affected 25,941 models across the April 2001 to June 2003 N16 Pulsar, Y61 Patrol, D22 Navara, A33 Maxima and T30 X-Trail ranges, recalled for the front passenger airbag.

In April 2013, Nissan recalled 11,360 vehicles across the October 2001 to May 2003 T30 X-Trail, N16 Pulsar, Y61 Patrol and D22 Navara ranges, all for the front passenger airbag.
