BMW to showcase green sports car in Frankfurt

BMW has today confirmed earlier reports that it will use Frankfurt Motor Show to unveil its high-efficiency sports car concept.

Though very few details are known, with BMW managing to keep things well under wraps, there is sufficient rumour to suggest the car could be based on the now defunct M1 Homage concept car that was on show at Italy's Villa d'Este Concours last year.

"Sustainability is becoming increasingly important,” said BMW board member Klaus Draeger. “You will see a product of sustainable development at the IAA (International Auto Show) in Frankfurt in a few weeks in the form of a concept car. The BMW EfficientDynamics Vision will demonstrate how efficient a sports car can be. It will also prove that sustainability does not apply to the drivetrain alone, but to design and materials as well.”

What we expect is a two seat, mid-engined coupe featuring highlights from BMW’s EfficientDynamics engineering program though at this stage we do not know if the car will be diesel, hybrid or electric. CarAdvice will keep you posted.
