“Yes, we’re going to take it,” he said, before confirming that the Monte Carlo model will be offered in both hatch and wagon body styles. The Monte Carlo model made up about “40 per cent of hatch sales in the previous generation Fabia range”.
The new Fabia Monte Carlo model features a rich red paint finish complemented by black highlights which extend to the lower sills, mirror caps, headlight bezels and grille, and alloy wheels (likely 17-inch for Australia).
Further inclusions consist of tinted rear windows and a tinted panoramic glass roof. The wagon gets black roof rails, too, and the rear bumper sees the adoption of a dark diffuser.
Inside, the Monte Carlo gets black interior trim and sports seats with red trim highlights, as well as red plastics and stitching. The car will also get the brand’s new 6.5-inch media screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interfaces.
Under the bonnet there is expected to be a 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine. It’s not clear if the new model will get the low-tuned 66TSI (66kW/160Nm) five-speed manual version, or if it will be sold solely in 81TSI dual-clutch automatic guise. That version has 81kW and 175Nm.
The brand has previously stated that the Monte Carlo was considerably more popular than the RS hot hatch model – indeed, there will be no RS version of the new Fabia.
