2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe spied with minimal camouflage

The next-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe has been spied wearing very little in the way of disguise on the streets of Nurburg, Germany.

When our spy photographers nabbed photos of new C coupe earlier this year, both on the streets of Germany and sliding around in the northern snow, the prototypes were wearing copious quantities of swirly disguise.

As you can see in these photos, the latest pre-production C-Class coupe models are wandering around with everything forward of the B-pillar undisguised.

At the rear, matte grey tape masks some of the finer details, but the false body panels present on earlier vehicles have been discarded.

This means that we can see, for the first time, the boot lid's prominent lip and the overall shape's similarity to the S-Class coupe. Unlike the present C-Class coupe, the new car features frameless side windows, which no doubt makes it easier to engineer and produce the convertible that we spied earlier this year.

Under the skin, the C-Class coupe and convertible will use the same rear- and all-wheel drive mechanical package as the existing C-Class sedan and the just unveiled GLC SUV.

The new C-Class coupe is expected to make its debut at this year's Frankfurt motor show, which begins in the middle of September.
