Citroen C3 and C4 rendered by French magazine

A French magazine has published an artist's renderings of the next-generation Citroen C3 (above) and Citroen C4 (below), which some of our sources indicate are close to the money.

As we can see from these images, which were published in the latest edition Auto Plus, the new C3 and C4 will feature thin headlights, like those used on the C4 Picasso people mover.

While the C4 is fairly restrained in its use of chrome, the C3 is predicted to have a prominent chrome band stretching from the B-pillar and around the roof.

According to the publication, the new C3 will employ an evolution of the platform used underneath the Peugeot 208. It will also be offered with the latest touchscreen infotainment system and a greater range of customisation options.

As PSA Peugeot Citroen's new common platform, which is currently being developed in conjunction with their Chinese partner and 14 percent stakeholder, Dongfeng, won't be ready until 2018, the next-gen C4 will be based on the current-generation Peugeot 308.

Auto Plus believes that the new C3 will debut in April 2016, while the C4 is expected to premiere in October of that year.

Both these cars, says the French magazine, will feature three-cylinder turbocharged PureTech engines, as well as a new 1.5-litre turbo-diesel from 2017. There will also be plug-in petrol-electric hybrid versions available down the track.
