Peugeot 308 “GTi” spotted undisguised prior to Goodwood debut

Photos of what seem to be the upcoming Peugeot 308 "GTi" have been posted online ahead of the hot hatch's debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The images you see here were originally posted on the Caradisiac forums by user Tevas, and were taken in the parking lot of a French petrol station.

Visually, this 308 differs from the existing GT thanks to its slightly different grille and lower air intake design, as well as dual round exhaust tips, a new rear diffuser-style element and new front splitter.

The car rides on 19-inch alloy wheels fitted with Michelin 235/35 tyres. Stopping power comes courtesy of Peugeot Sport-branded red calipers. The car only carries Peugeot and 308 badges, so the GTi name is still yet to be confirmed.

Earlier this week, the organisers of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place at the end of this month, accidentally announced: "Peugeot will be sporting a large dose of French flair at the Festival of Speed, with the world premier of a 308 ‘performance model’".

Although Peugeot has yet to officially comment on its Goodwood reveal, Bruno Famin, director of Peugeot Sport, told Car Advice last year that "we are working on the new GTi version of the 308, with a possible engine of 250-270PS (184-199kW)".

If his pronouncement proves to be true, the new "GTi" will easily outpoint the 162-169kW Volkswagen Golf GTI, and will be at least on par with the 184kW Ford Focus ST.
