2015 Audi Q3 pricing and specifications

The 2015 Audi Q3 has arrived in Australia with new and revised engines, subtle styling changes, more equipment and a simplified range structure.

Audi’s updated compact SUV line-up features two equipment levels, the base Q3 and the high-grade Q3 Sport, each of which is available with four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engine options. Prices range from $42,900 to $56,900 before on-road costs.

The entry-level Audi Q3’s 1.4-litre petrol engine introduces cylinder-on-demand technology, allowing it to run on two cylinders under light throttle and helping reduce fuel consumption by more than 6 per cent to 5.8 litres per 100 kilometres. It’s the sole front-drive variant in the range and is available exclusively with a six-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission.

An extra $5000 affords the entry Q3 diesel, which gets a larger 2.0-litre engine, a seven-speed S tronic gearbox, and Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system.

Power and torque are up 7kW and 20Nm to 110kW and 340Nm, fuel consumption falls 10 per cent to 5.2L/100km, and its 0-100km/h sprint time sharpens six tenths to 9.3sec.

The first of the Sport variants is the 2.0 TFSI quattro petrol, which produces 132kW and 320Nm. It’s now the most powerful petrol model available, with Audi discontinuing the old 155kW/300Nm flagship.

The top-spec diesel, the 2.0 TDI Sport, adds $4600. It produces 135kW and 380Nm (up 5kW), while its fuel consumption (5.4L/100km) and sprint time (7.9sec) are both marginally lower than before.

Standard features of the base Q3 variants include 17-inch alloy wheels, auto xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, front and rear parking sensors, reverse-view camera, dual-zone climate control, leather-appointed upholstery, multifunction leather steering wheel with paddleshifters, five-speaker sound system, and an MMI radio with 6.5-inch colour screen, CD player, SDHC memory card reader, Audi music interface and Bluetooth phone connectivity with audio streaming.

The Q3 Sport variants add larger 18-inch alloy wheels, body-colour lower body panels, convenience key, Audi drive select driving modes, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, Milano leather upholstery, front sports seats, and aluminium and stainless steel trim highlights.

Mechanical upgrades introduced across the 2015 Audi Q3 range include larger rear brake discs, an updated torque vectoring system, an off-road ESC mode that’s designed to maximise traction on dirt and gravel, and a revised version of Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The updated RS Q3 will go on sale next month with its carryover 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo petrol engine boosted to 250kW and 450Nm, up 22kW and 30Nm.

Audi promises extra standard equipment, but is keeping pricing and specification details under wraps for now. The outgoing car costs $81,900.

Audi expects Q3 sales to rise off the back of the launch of the updated model. The compact crossover has averaged about 270 sales per month so far this year.
