Volvo R-Design

Although Volvo said goodbye to the R badge some time ago, the need for a sporty image has forced Volvo to bring back a series of “R-Design” packs. AMG owners need not worry though as the R-Design packs are merely cosmetic enhancements.
The C30, S40 and V50 will be available in Europe with an R-Design package which will give the models a sportier look. On the outside, the package includes a sporty bodykit, silver matt grille and mirrors and special R-Design 17 or 18-inch alloys.
From the inside the Swedes have produced a two-tone black and cream leather trim, an aluminium centre console, blue instrument dials and ‘sports pedals’.
What you see below is perhaps the most comfortable and best designed steering wheel available. The steering wheel in the C30 recently left us with the utmost positive impression, so if Volvo can improve on that, it must be the best steering wheel there is!
When will the R-Design hit Australian shores? Volvo Spokesman Todd Hallenbeck told CarAdvice the new R-Design pack will arrive in Australia with the introduction of the MY08 C30, S40 & V50 range, which will happen towards the end of this year.
