Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce’s sub-seven minute lap of Nurburgring released on video

A sub-seven minute lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife has been recorded by the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce, and a video of the entire lap has been released online.

The Lamborghini Aventador SV managed its 6:59.73 lap of the world famous track whilst doing development testing for Pirelli's P Zero Corsa tyres.

To date only three other road-legal production vehicles have managed to notch up a verified time of under seven minutes on the demanding course: the Radical SR8LM heads the list with a time of 6:48.00, a Radical SR8 with a lap time of 6:56.08 is up next and a Porsche 918 Spyder with a time of 6:57.00 formerly rounded out the list.

The Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce (below) was formally unveiled at this year's Geneva motor show in March. It's powered by a 6.5-litre V12 that's been tuned to deliver 552kW of power, up from the piffling 515kW available on the regular Aventador.

In addition to extra dollops of power, the Superveloce has had around 50 kilograms of weight stripped out of it thanks carbonfibre door panels and bucket seats. Niceties, such as an infotainment system, carpet and noise insulation, have also been tossed into the proverbial skip.

Weighing 1525kg, the Aventador SV has a claimed 0-100km/h time of 2.8 seconds or a tenth quicker than run-of-the-mill Aventadors. The SV's maximum speed has been derestricted and is said to be in excess of 350km/h.
