2016 Toyota HiLux interior photos leaked showing Lexus LCD screen

New photos of the 2016 Toyota HiLux (also known as the Toyota HiLux Revo in other markets) interior have been leaked ahead of the commercial vehicle's international reveal on May 21.

The interior photos, posted on the MZ Crazy Cars Facebook page, show an infotainment screen, a push-button differential lock and a central trip computer screen lifted from the Lexus range. Two vehicles are pictured in these images, one of what appears to be an entry-level HiLux and another of an upper-specification HiLux.

The iPad-esque screen shown in recent leaked pictures appeared to be a large LCD screen. These latest images suggest that it may actually be a smaller screen with less graphic detail. The vehicle pictured below appears to be either an entry- or mid-specification HiLux, given the lack of satellite navigation.

An image of the central control cluster housing the tachometer and speedometer has also been leaked. This image shows four backlit gauges with a centre LCD screen that has been pulled from some vehicles in the Lexus range.

The LCD screen shows trip computer, navigation, music and messages tabs, which are controlled by steering wheel mounted buttons. This is expected to come standard on mid- or upper-specification models.

The final leaked interior image shows a single-zone automatic climate control cluster. Again, the single-zone arrangement suggests this could be a mid- or upper-specification HiLux pictured. Another element of the image worth noting is a button-activated rear differential lock.

Previous photos have suggested that the second gear lever for four-wheel drive mode activation has been ditched for a dial, helping with ease of use.

These images follow previously leaked pictures that showed the HiLux exterior and interior, in addition to leaked engine details.

The HiLux will forego the familiar 3.0-litre diesel unit and instead run with a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel, as well as a 2.7-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, and a 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel. The details are expected to be as follows:

  • 1GD-FTV VN — 2.8-litre four-cylinder intercooled turbocharged diesel engine that produces 132kW of power and 450Nm of torque between 1600 – 2400rpm when mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. When mated to the six-speed manual transmission, the torque figure drops to 420Nm of torque between 1600 – 2600rpm.

  • 2GD-FTV VN — 2.4-litre four-cylinder intercooled turbocharged diesel engine that produces 125kW of power and 400Nm of torque between 1600rpm – 2400rpm when matched to a six-speed automatic transmission. The same engine when paired with a five-speed manual transmission drops torque output to 343Nm of torque between 1400 – 3400rpm.

  • 2TR-FE — 2.7-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 124kW of power. The engine is expected to come with a five- and six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox.

As we reported this week, Toyota Australia is projecting some potential supply issues with the new-generation HiLux.

CarAdvice will be attending the reveal of the HiLux on May 21.
