Audi A6 Allroad Biturbo under consideration for Australia

The 2015 Audi A6 Allroad has only just launched in Australia it could soon be joined by a powered-up Biturbo model.

At the launch of the new Audi A6 Allroad rugged station wagon, the German company's local arm confirmed it is looking at introducing a Biturbo version of the car in Australia.

The standard 2015 A6 Allroad has a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel with 160kW/500Nm, where the 3.0-litre TDI Biturbo V6 brings 235kW and 650Nm. Instead of a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, the Biturbo has an eight-speed automatic.

The A6 Allroad Biturbo is currently available to order in Europe, and the Australian arm is looking at the business case for the car now.

The 2015 Audi A6 range has recently been repositioned, along with the A6 Allroad - which, with its 3.0-litre single turbo V6 diesel (producing 180kW/500Nm), is no more affordable to the tune of $6000.

That means there's potentially room for the A6 Allroad Biturbo to sit in the range above the Biturbo sedan but below the new S6 sedan. We'd expect a price around $150,000 - albeit with a very long list of standard equipment.

Stay tuned for more.
