Aston Martin DB9 successor spied at Nurburgring and on the road

The successor to the Aston Martin DB9 has been caught again by our spy photographers, this time on the Nurburgring and on public roads in the town of Nurburg, Germany.

When our photographers first spotted a prototype of the DB9 successor a few weeks back, that vehicle was painted in plain black, but was kitted out in all manner of false body panels and other types of disguise.

The latest prototype vehicle wears a distracting swirly, loopy camouflage overlay, but it does seem to be wearing a body that's closer to production spec. This car does still seem to be wearing false panels above the rear haunches and boot lid.

Generic tail-lights have inserted into the rear body work, and there's a very developmental-looking rear lip spoiler living on the car's trunk lid.

Unlike the earlier prototype, the latest prototype vehicle is a right-hand drive model.

It's not known at this stage what name the DB9 successor will be given, but the company has stated on the record that its next generation of vehicles will resemble the DB10 that has been especially produced for upcoming James Bond film, Spectre.

The DB9 successor and its platform relations will use a new aluminium intensive structure, which should cut weight, and improve both performance and fuel economy.

This new generation of Aston Martin sports cars will also be offered with electronic gear and a turbocharged V8 engine supplied by Mercedes-AMG, most likely a version of the 4.0-litre turbocharged motor that currently does service Mercedes-AMG GT and C63.

At the Geneva motor show in March, Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer said that the British brand will offer a version of the company's 6.0-litre V12, as well as manual transmissions, in its next generation of cars.
