Peugeot 4007 confirmed for Australia

Peugeot Australia has confirmed plans to bring the 4007 SUV to Australia by November this year.

The 4007, which has already gone on sale in Europe, is based on the same platform as the Mitsubishi Outlander and is built by Mitsubishi in Japan.

Peugeot Australia feels the 4007 is ideal for the brand, which is now looking to move into the SUV sector.

Unlike the Outlander, the Peugeot 4007 will be powered by Peugeot's own 2.2-litre HDi diesel engine that is estimated to put out 115kW & 318Nm of torque. Australian delivered vehicles will be fitted with six-airbags standard.

Australian specifications are not yet officially confirmed but CarAdvice believes a five-speed manual and six-speed automatic (Getrag) gearbox will be offered.

Peugeot Australia says it expects pricing in the mid 40s with only two high-spec variants offered. The company predicts sales of around 500 units per year.

The 4007 will be available as both a five and seven seater.
