Don’t even go near this car.

We purchased a brand new one and within the same day, the alternator needed replacing. Then, in less than 2 weeks, the gear box has problems. Even the servcing guy at Peugeot told us he doesn’t know what the problem is as he hasn’t seen this before, and needs to wait for advice from France!!

Needless to say, we still haven’t got the car back.

Jake02, the 5008 is the Grand Picasso competitor. I was talking about the standard Picasso. I'm not sure now, do they sell the standard C4 Picasso in Australia?

Aleks, having owned both a Peugeot (a 206, with audio controls on a stalk behind the wheel) and a VW (a Jetta with audio controls on the steering wheel itself), in my opinion the stalk is a better option. The controls are always in the same place no matter which position the wheel is in, and the controls themselves were logically arranged and could be operated without needing to stop and think about it. Certainly no more difficult than operating the indicators or the wipers.

They're immediately behind the steering wheel on stubby stalks, Aleks, for both cruise and stereo. You can see one of them in the picture. I have friends who own a Scenic and a 407 and they like the controls sited there.

You didn't realise the controls are behind the wheel, but you could take you argument further: "How hard is it to reach the volume controls on the dash or the cruise controls on a stalk?"

Guys,I have had a fair few cars in my time, all the way from holdens to toyotas, Mazda's etc. I have just bought the 308 touring and I can tell you that Puegeot know how to build cars. For that matter all European cars have exceptional build and fantastic engines. The 3008 looks awesome and sharing the 308 engine which has been designed in conujunction with BMW and Citreon. The gear box is designed by Porsche.
The Peugeots have so many features built in to the car that its actually amazing value for money.

Alex:
Peugeot's C4 Picasso is called the 5008 - it's also just been launched in Europe.

I really like the 3008. All you tools don't get it but I do. It's a compact SUV without 4WD and since almost all compact SUVs sold here are 4WD only, you cannot say whether the customers really need 4WD or not. Some people do buy them just for the up-high driving position like a friend of mine ATM - he's looking at a Tiguan :(

Peugeot need more of thier range from Europe (just like every other car maker here) and this is a step forward. Good on them!
