2015 Honda Shuttle revealed

The all-new Honda Shuttle is essentially a Honda Jazz with an even more practical body.

The new Honda Shuttle - which has just been revealed in Japan - builds on the current-generation Jazz model's highly flexible interior by offering considerably more load space at the back.

The stretched model clearly has a longer rear overhang than the standard Jazz, and while the official cargo capacity figures haven't yet been announced by the Japanese brand, it is expected that the new Shuttle will better the existing model's luggage space. That version had up to 590 litres of capacity with the rear seats in place - more than a Mazda 6 wagon, and considerably more than the Jazz hatch (350L).

Propulsion comes from a 1.5-litre direct injection four-cylinder engine for standard front-wheel drive versions, while there's an all-wheel drive Hybrid model that teams the petrol engine to an electric motor and lithium-ion batteries at the rear (hidden under the floor of the boot). All models have Honda's new dual-clutch i-DCD automatic transmission.

Currently the Shuttle appears set to be produced primarily for the Japanese domestic market, and Honda Australia has informed CarAdvice that it "does not have any plans to bring this vehicle to the Australian market at this time".

In Australia, Honda is moving away from some hybrid models - it has already dropped the CR-Z, existing Jazz Hybrid and the Civic Hybrid, but will soon add a new Accord Sport Hybrid model to its range.
