2015 Holden Barina X special edition model launches in Australia

The 2015 Holden Barina X is said to bring an extra $2500 of equipment to the Lion brand's city hatchback at a cost of $1250 to buyers.

The new Holden Barina X is based on the CD hatch model, but intriguingly the CDX model remains.

It adds the brand's MyLink media system (previously only on the dearer CDX and RS versions), which means the car will have in-car apps such as internet radio providers Pandora, Stitcher and TuneIn, as well as the availability of BringGo satellite navigation through the smartphone app.

There's also an electric sunroof, front fog-lights, 16-inch grey alloy wheels, and X decals on the doors.

The Barina X remains powered by the brand's 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, and comes with the choice of a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic.

Holden says the new Barina X will be available from late April, with 700 examples of the hatch slated for production this year.

2015 Holden Barina hatch pricing (plus on-road costs):
CD manual - $15,390
CD auto - $17,590
X manual - $16,640
X auto - $18,840
CDX manual - $20,090
CDX auto - $22,290
RS manual - $21,390
RS auto - $21,590
