Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe spied undergoing testing

These are the first images of the all-new Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe - a model that will aim to smash the Audi RS5, BMW M4 and Lexus RC F when it hits the market in 2016.

Our spy photographers spotted the prototype Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe in Germany, with plenty of smaller details giving away the fact this is the most hardcore C-Class Coupe we've seen yet.

Note the oversized air intakes in the front bumper, the single-bar grille finisher, lowered suspension and thick-treaded alloy wheels tucked under broadened fenders... it's clear this isn't a standard two-door C.

The quad exhaust outlets at the rear and the exaggerated lower bumper also give plenty away about how the final product could look. It's also clear from these images that the sleek, slimline tail-lights of the C-Class Coupe will look similar to those seen on the S-Class Coupe.

This AMG model also boasts a large sunroof pane, and squinting to see what's behind those big wheels also indicates the car has cross-drilled brake rotors and large calipers.

Under the bonnet there'll be the same powerplant as is seen in the AMG C63 sedan and wagon, which is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing either 350kW and 650Nm in the standard model, and 375kW/700Nm in the high-spec S model.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has suggested the all-new Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe will arrive mid-2016, following its international debut at either the Frankfurt or Los Angeles auto shows later in 2015.
