GM definitely won’t be bring back the VE in any form… Since Bob Lutz on his blog said that the “G8 will not be a Caprice after all.”

Since “upon further review and careful study, we simply cannot make a business case for such a program”.

Hence a few village idiots praising the VE isn’t a strong business case…. After all Trabant and P76 had it’s fans too!

No wheelnut, the G8 didn’t sell while pontiac was around, thats why they canned the idea of brining in the G8 ute.
Maybe when they brought in the clearance deals, then the sales increased a little… But that is the usual progression of things!!

BTW, my Grandpa used to have a 1988 Chevy Caprice with a 305 V8. It had a nice soft ride but man thinking about it reminds you how bad American 80s cars were. Now he drives a 1998 Buick Reagl GS, which has teh 3.8 supercharged V6. Not a bad car for an old man even if the wheels turn the wrong way.

Jason thanks for clarifying, i was thinking Ford were gonna be stuck in the leaf sprung age for eternity. Anyway, Wheelnut i watched the review on Youtube by inside line and they were amazed by the car and they said that the steering was better than the 3 series they had tested the day before. Lets just hope that Lutz can convince his superiors to bring this here as a chevvy.

Another thing which will give you some idea as to what the Yanks think of Holden…

When the first shipment of G8s [which sold out in a couple of weeks] reached the USA; there was an article which said that a number of them had Holden SS badges on them instead of Pontac badges.
When GM realised the mistake they wrote to the new G8 owners asking them to return to their local Pontiac dealer to have Pontiac G8 badges fitted…. according to the article very few owners did so.

The decision to “cancel” the G8 wasn’t because “it wasn’t selling” but because GM made the decision to get rid of Pontiac.

If you care to read some of the comments on autoblog and inside line you will see that a considerable number of American car enthusiasts love the VE Commodore [G8] but due to the GFC are unable to afford one.
When the decision was made to Axr Pontiac a number of them said that they hope to see it make a return to the USA as a Chev.. which thanks to Bob Lutz it is

Not only that but on inside line the G8 is one of their long term test cars and they are impressed with how well it performs against its more fancied rivals which they have tested it against.

Now if the yanks didn’t like the VE Commodore they wouldn’t make comments like that would they?

I totally agree Frontman, I watched this fool on 60 minutes and if GM are relying on this clown they are in massive trouble. I think he played a massive part in why they went bankrupt.

Didn’t they cancel the G8, since they didn’t sell too well??!! So why the hell would they start importing them again?!

I would say that its impossible for a Japanese car to drive Realcars… However; I’d say Realcars has probably driven a number of Japanese cars..
