2015 Mini One 5 Door pricing and specifications

The entry-level Mini One 5 Door will arrive in Australian showrooms in the coming weeks with a $26,050 before on-road costs price tag.

Available from April production, the One 5 Door is a larger and more practical version of the three-door Mini One that’s available from $24,500.

The $26,050 price applies to the six-speed manual One 5 Door, while a six-speed automatic version is available from $28,400.

The introduction of the bigger Mini One comes six months after CarAdvice exclusively revealed the local division’s plans intentions to offer the base 5 Door in our market.

The One lowers the price of entry to the 5 Door range by $1700, undercutting the previous base model, the $27,750 Cooper 5 Door.

The Mini One 5 Door is powered by a 1.2-litre version of the brand’s new three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. It produces 75kW of power at 6000rpm and 180Nm of torque between 1400-4000rpm – down 25kW and 40Nm compared with the Cooper’s larger 1.5-litre.

The One will be more than two seconds slower from 0-100km/h than the Cooper, taking about 10 seconds to hit triple figures from rest.

Equipment highlights of the One 5 Door include Bluetooth phone connectivity (but not audio streaming), rear parking sensors, and push-button start.

Compared with the Cooper, the Mini 5 Door One gets 15-inch steel wheels instead of alloys, black grille bars and mirror caps, and a two-spoke steering wheel with no controls instead of the Cooper’s three-spoke multi-function wheel.

The new One 5 Door is also set to miss out on the Cooper’s auto headlights and wipers, interior LED lighting package, passenger seat height adjustment, front centre armrest with storage compartment, floor mats, and Hazy Grey decorative trim.
