Shelby Baja 700 takes the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor to the max

The Shelby Baja 700 takes the standard issue previous-generation Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and turns the craziness factor up to 11.

Thanks to an engine makeover that includes a Whipple supercharger and a Borla exhaust kit, as well as a new throttle body, injectors and heat exchanger, the Shelby Baja 700 is said to produce over 522kW (700hp) of power.

To help the Baja 700 stay in reasonable contact with terra firma, the truck is fitted with competition-spec suspension, Rogue Racing upper and lower control arms, 3-inch coil overs and bypass rear shock absorbers.

The Shelby Baja 700 rides on 18-inch matte black Custom Fuel alloy wheels clad in BFGoodrich K02 tyres.

Stylistic additions include stripes, Baja 700 badging and a skid plate. On the inside, the Baja 700 features a reskinned leather interior, new floor mats and a three gauge pod on the dashboard.

For a little bit extra, Baja 700 buyers can also add new front and rear bumpers, as well as a comprehensive exterior lighting package (top) to their ute.

Only 50 units will be produced, and each Shelby Baja 700 will cost a neat US$45,000 ($58,700) over and above the price of the previous-gen Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, which you have to supply yourself; Shelby also gets to keep all the parts that are removed during the conversion process.

In its final production form, the previous-generation Ford F-150 SVT Raptor had a retail price of US$44,995 ($58,700) and was powered by a 306kW/588Nm 6.2-litre V8.

The next-generation Ford F-150 Raptor was introduced at the Detroit auto show, at the beginning of this year, and features a lighter aluminium body and 3.5-litre turbocharged V6.
