2008 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG
June 26, 2007 by Alborz Fallah
Struggling car companies have for decades joined teams compete on the international level, the French manufacturers have done it with Peugeot and Citroen, as for the Germans? They are still bickering.
Mercedes-Benz and BMW have agreed to not work together beyond their current cooperation developing hybrid technologies. In the mean time, Mercedes are nearly done with the new BMW M3 killer, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.
Powered by an enormous 6.3-litre V8 engine (360kWs), the new C63, is no longer just a C-class with a big engine. Mercedes says the new C63 is focused on handling as well as power. The C63 will take on the new BMW M3 which will come in a four-door variant for the first time.
Sources say the new C63 is likely to come equipped with Merc’s new Advanced Agility Package, which gives drivers the option of a ‘Sport’ mode which modifies the driving characteristics by firming up the dampers and improving steering and throttle response.
Although we love Mercedes, we have always held a strong belief that although they make great, powerful, and beautiful cars, Mercedes cars have always been more orientated towards the over 50s whilst BMW, is arguably a brand for the young (or young hearted at least).
Mercedes will only sell the AMG C-class with an automatic transmission, although there is an option for wheel-mounted paddles (DSG style) with manual modes.
The C63 will go on sale in Europe early-mid 2008. Australian release date is expected to follow soon after.

The Merc, in comparison to the Beemer M3, looks too boring and stuck-up. It sort of has an attitude saying “I don’t want to race you”, which is fine if an HSV pulls up next to you, but not an M3 or RS4. Only my opinion, but the front is a little too bland. The rear and side vody styling cews are quite nice though. As inoffensive as the styling is, it has some real beauty and elegance too it, just not my type of car. Bring on the M3, IF-F, and RS6!
IS-F
I think it looks ok because I know its a Mercedes, but if I didnt Id say that front end resembles the front of that people mover that was voted most ugly car abit back (Forgot if it was by Ssanyong or not)
For the very FEW on this site that MAYBE interested these are the colours for the M3 to come .
Silverstone ,Interlagos blue,optional Melbourne Red,Jerz blue,Alpine White,Black,Space Grey metallic &
Sparkling Graphite .
Oh and in case no one has spotted already ,no front Fog lights, dam!!!! on this model . This is because to feed the 400 litres of air the engine needs every second the the front end has had to be designed for maximum air flow to the front of the engine. So no fog lights will be available.
Read just now that this will sell from $139,500 in Oz!! That’s heaps cheaper than the M3, and the expected price of the Lexus IS-F!
The E36 M3 did come in a sedan version for north America. It was available for 1997 – 1998. I have one and I’m in Canada.
