Pagani unveils Zonda Cinque Roadster
July 6, 2009 by George Skentzos
Pagani has yet again redefined desire in the hypercar stakes by releasing the first official images of the Roadster version of its special edition Zonda Cinque model.
Just five pristine examples of the Zonda Cinque Roadster will be hand assembled at Pagani’s Modenese Atelier, mirroring the exclusivity of the Coupe.
While virtually identical to its Coupe sibling, Pagani’s engineers have had to add a few extra structural reinforcements to the exotic carbon-titanium chassis in order to compensate for the missing roof.
With the roof stored in the front bonnet, the driver and one lucky passenger are completely exposed to the rush of air being fed into the Mercedes AMG V12 engine through the enormous air intakes just inches above their heads.
With 506kW and peak torque of 780Nm and a dry weight of just 1,210kg – the Zonda Cinque Roadster is every bit as fast as it looks, accelerating from rest to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds and passing 200km/h in just 9.6 seconds.
Closer to its top speed and the Zonda Cinque Roadster would tip the scales at almost two tonne with an extra 750kg of downforce at 300km/h thanks to that radical bodywork.
While founder Horacio Pagani is asking 1.3 million Euro plus taxes for this masterpiece, it is going to take more than just money to enjoy the privilege of parking one in your driveway – even if your first name is Sheikh.

Just when you thought that a Pagani couldn’t get any uglier..
I can’t believe there are 5 people out there who would actually hand over their hard earned for one of these hideous things
It depends really on our preference. Zonda Cinque looks good. I’m actually intrigued by this Pagani, sounds really promising and interesting.
Stunning, absolutely stunning. However, I don’t think I would ever want to be this noticed.
Yeah of course you find it Stunning Alex…. You like Maseratis don’t you?
Wheelnut, I wrote stunning, not beautiful. There is a pretty big difference. I think that this is probably one of the ugliest cars on the planet, but it is absolutely jaw dropping. It must have more prescene than just about any other car ever made and whether one thinks it ugly or not, there is something about it that really scares you and considering that even Lamborghinis don’t tend to scare these days, for that, I love it. Stunning is the word.
What’s with stuffing an oversized motor into a bare body shell and charge zillions. I’d rather test out a Honda ~
The Lotus philosophy has been taken a bit far. Lightweight body, slightly powerful engine and RWD. C’mon Pagani, i dont think even Mr Sheik is willing to buy one of these.
