2016 Citroen C4 here in Q3

The 2016 Citroen C4 is scheduled for an Australian launch in the third quarter of this year, sporting a revised look as well as a new transmission and engine choices.

The update to the Citroen C4 includes the introduction of the Peugeot-Citroen group’s 1.2-litre petrol turbo that delivers 96kW of power and 230Nm of torque. The same unit is found in the popular Peugeot 308.

The new engine will replace the current model’s 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines and offer an all-new six-speed automatic to replace the ageing four-speed auto or robotised manual transmission units.

The new drivetrain combination will see the Citroen C4 hatch use just 4.9L of fuel per 100km and accelerate from 0-100km/h in 12.8 seconds (down by 1.1 seconds).

From the outside the updated C4 gets revised rear tail lights with a 3D-like effect similar to the DS3. The front gains new LED and halogen headlights and chrome surrounds.

The interior remains mostly as is, though the C4 does gain a similar infotainment screen as the one found in the C4 Picasso, also adding push button start and keyless entry features to the top-spec.

A notable feature on top of the current C4 Seduction variant is the satellite navigation system as part of the new seven-inch touchscreen.

Full specification and pricing remains unconfirmed for now, however we suspect the realigning of the  model lineup with the new petrol-only engine will see price changes of around mid-20s for the base and high-20s for the top-spec.
