2010 Saab 9-5 spy pics

By Matt Brogan |

Spy pics of the 2010 Saab 9-5, due late this year or early next, have been released today by website Saab United.

The European influenced 9-5 sedan will make its Motor Show debut later this year in Frankfurt and will be followed a year later by an Estate variant.

The design, though undoubtedly Saab, breaks away from the familiar and long standing design we’re used to making for a refreshing change of pace.

The car should be available with a mix of four and six cylinder engines (petrol/BioPower) as well as a four cylinder turbo diesel with the six cylinder diesel engine originally planned for the car having already been cancelled by GM.

I don’t mind the look of this for a saab…. not saying much though is it.
It’s an improvement for sure, hopefully one of many once the company is fully sold off.

Yuk, this is why Saab need new designers or a new design language.

I quite like this (if it’s a realistic vision), and if they make it look like that it’ll sell well (being a better value alternative to an E-class/5-series/A6/S80/Legend etc) and revive Saab giving them the cash to make the 9-4 and 9-1, as well as replacing the 9-3.

I do see alot of Insignia in this CGI though. I know the 9-5 is based on it, but I really hope they don’t make it look anything like the Insignia (hide the platform beneath etc). But if it’s anything like the Insignia it’ll be a fantastic car!

One of the first SAAB’s I’ve ever seen that I like.

Ahhhhhh, SAAB, buy for $70k, 12 months latter $30k [if your lucky enough to find a sucker], i believe SAAB is THE current Aussie Champion for tear up!

    Keep away!

The front actually looks a bit audi-ish, with the daytime running lights and the central grille. Still this can only be a turn for the better from where GM left them.

Saab lost all credibility for me by leaving the current 9-5 on the market for so long, virtually unchanged except for some horrid chrome highlights. GM well and truly killed this once enviable brand.

with decent funding, Saab can be the techno centre of automotive europe. the capability is there, the funds arent. with the right people at the helm Saab could go on to great things.

  • Yanzo

i thought they weren’t gonna make saab no more

  • The Realist

    Useless for the Aussie market.

Spend a little more and you can get a second hand 335i.
