Rolls-Royce Wraith Drophead convertible spied testing in the snow

The upcoming Rolls-Royce Wraith Drophead convertible has been spotted, by our spy photographers, undergoing cold weather testing.

These images were taken by our photographers in the snowy climes of Sweden. The Wraith Drophead retains the coupe's signature wide-opening reverse-hinged front doors.

During the process of replacing of the fixed roof with an electronically operated convertible, the Drophead has lost the fastback style look of its coupe forebear.

Like the Wraith coupe that it's based on, the Drophead convertible is expected to be powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.6-litre V12 churning out 465kW of power and 800Nm of torque to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic.

Last year, Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös confirmed that the Wraith convertible would start heading into showrooms from the middle of 2016.

When the Wraith Drophead officially launches, it will round Rolls-Royce's range of sedans, coupes and convertibles.

It will eventually be joined in the lineup by the first ever Rolls-Royce SUV, which, last month, was confirmed as being under development. No launch date has been set yet, but the SUV isn't likely to be revealed before 2017.
