I think the june figures are definitely skewed with businesses trying to get a purchase in the 2009 FY, the JULY figures will be most interesting, maybe expect some premium brands numbers will take a hit?

The standout in this table is Hyundai, while market share is again dominated by Toyota with a 20.7 per cent chunk of all new vehicle sales. Holden follows with 12.3 percent, Ford on 10.2, then Mazda in fourth place on 8.5 per cent.

Okay, some figures are unbelievable. But still increasing business sales probably means improving economy.

Courier Mail today reported that sales of Toyota Hilux utes outsold Commodores by 10 units. As MB put it, its all to do with the gov tax incentives for business.

ElecEng - Interesting observation that the 3 year graph showed a steady upward monthly trend. It all evens out in the year though.

This is all to do with the government assistance in regards to small business asset assistance up to $150K. I know european dealerships have limited stock due to slow down in manufacturing eg MB down to 3 days per week BMW same.

"June vehicle sales show upward trend"....

CA, why is the chart going upwards as the months progress?

Is it because the June sales includes the May sales (thus Jan-Jun sales)? If that's the case then of course the trend is up. Then you need to show us a graph with individual monthly sales to compare the monthly sales figures and it will actually show if the sales in June are more than the previous months. I added the June sales and it came just under 100,000 cars...

And probably do the same thing for 2008 and 2007...

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Now I can relate to this chart (Because I like pretty pictures).

From what I see here sales for new cars leveled out in August 2008 and decreased in October 2008.

The positive here is that whilst sales declined again this year the trend is up. It would be a worry if the graph showed sales slide to less than the previous month in the same year.

In a nutshell the sales trend is the same as the previous 2 years but the sales qty is lower.
