Toyota Australian sales strongest in a year
July 3, 2009 by Matt Brogan
Toyota Australia has had its best month in a year this June selling 21,400 units.
Toyota Australia senior executive director David Buttner said official figures due out on Friday are expected to show the June market was substantially higher than any other month during the financial year.
“HiLux was our best-selling vehicle in June with more than 4700 sales – an all-time record – on the back of the Federal Government’s investment allowance,” Mr Buttner said. “Two wheel-drive versions were particularly strong, gaining more than 15 per cent on the same month last year. There were also strong results in other segments of the market with the fuel-efficient Corolla also topping 4000 sales for an excellent month.”

“Toyota Australia has had its best month in a year”
I think you will find that you could swap almost any manufacturer into that headline. As the article said TOTAL sales were the best month for the last 12 months.
KRudd’s tax bonus certainly helped the fleet kings, Hilux, Commodore & Corolla to 1-2-3.
BTW Commodore 2nd by only TEN (10) units!
Looking forward the the full figures CA.
If Corolla tops 4000 units, does that mean it was better selling than Mazda 3 in June? 4700 units for Hilux may very well make it the top selling vehicle, wonder what number Commodore achieved.
This is good news, good to see the car market picking up with Mazda doing record numbers as well.
The simple fact is BigT[tm.F-0] know how to make the vehicles that more people want to buy, and also expert at marketing the said product.
June was and always is a strong month, the real test will be July figures…
Cheers

DesignEng, beat me there with the top positions. Just wondering where you get the number from? I’d love to see the full figure too, thanks!
Everybody has had a screemer of a month by whats being said around the traps. If supply had’ve been better then these figures would have been increased by 10 to 15%.
F-O, why is it if Toyota prostitute there products to the fleet market it is a good vehicle with a wise marketing strategy, however when Commodore is the largest seller it’s because of fleets and GM throwing the cars that nobody would normally buy out????
July will be bolstered by the deliveries of vehicles ordered in June, the real market test is September October (tradition slow months)
Am waiting patiently to get the results of the big three, I know Ford has done well also.
No wonder there’s been an increase in boring and bland vehicles on the road…Aussie like reliable cars…unfortunately they think bland and reliable go together…
i prefer reliable and exciting! toyotas are just too bland and boring!
DesignEngr has hit it on the head. This is just good PR spin, nearly every manufacturer recorded their best month, and the companies with the most fleet sales will get the biggest increase, due to the Governments 50% tax reduction, hence why Corolla and Hilux sales are up so much.
John S, I think Mazda’s success is because more and more people are realising you can buy exciting yet reliable cars.
Everyone needs a fridge.
Kings of spin.
The range topper in the photo is the only one worth having. The 2 wheel drives and anything less than an sr5 look awful.
After the run out sale of the popular last Mazda3 are over, expect the Corolla to be on top of the new Mazda3 thanks to the stupid grin on the Mazda3.
Right, Toyota knows what buyers wants in a car. Aside from that, they also produce really good cars.
I can’t wait for the news in the coming months. Would Toyota be still like this?
