Frontman, thanks for the reply. I didn’t want to get into “them and us” argument either. I was interested in your statement and how it fitted in.

I have a mate who drove Aust Post Transits for many years and swears by them. My only experience was with a really old 60’s model (I think it was).

Pete. Transit is still number one in Europe and the UK. Numbers ways and general respect by the population. (it is also one of the oldest badges in the segment so that helps).
That doesn’t say it’s the best or not so I’m not getting into a this is better thing ;-) But whilst the Australian general public reckon Transits out here are supposedly unreliable, they are not regarded that way anywhere else in the world.

As Tom said, if you bothered to actually read what is going on in the world, Porsche made an attemp to purchase controlling interest in parent company VWAG…. Attempt failed and when VWAG turned up the screws Porche AG found themselves short of cash.. hence the visits to Qatar. Their other option is to sell completely to VWAG and the majority of the board would be forced to resign. A classic case of bitting the hand that feeds you.

A vw dealer has suggested to me that the T6 may be coming late 2009 or early 2010.Has anybody else heard similar ?

Having owned several VW Transporters (3 x T2 and 1 x T4) and having driven many other makes I think I can vouch for Kombi’s reliability, roadworthiness, value for money and comfort. Can’t wait for the T6 – and yes, Marblebar, with the TDI V6 please.

Frugal you are such a complete spanner. VW is one of the only manufacturers to post a profit for the last quarter. Its Porsche that are having the liquidity issues at the moment, and are pursuiting investment from Qatar. VW are offering to buy them and add them to their long list of marques, but Porsche management board can’t handle the damage to their own pride if their risky move to try and take over VW ends up with VW taking them over, hence why they are looking for investment elsewhere, even from the ‘arabs’.

LOL the Benz Vito the worst Van my mate has ever had, go price a replacement throttle body for one. Every thing I have ever heard about VW has been very favourable and they apparently are very car like. Now with the Pregio I have a builder mate of mine who owns one and he has had no problems but he knows many guys that have and engines are a massive weal link with them. Oh your right Shak VW are the next big powerhouse infact they are almost there.

Your a scream! vw is about to go under, the Arabs are buying into it.The German GovCo due to EU laws is NOT allowed to rescue it, the way it should be and lucky for GM not the case in USA

PS/ Tried the vw van, worse than my [then] 5 year old KiaPregio, and WAYYYYY over the odds, if your spending that sort of coin might as well buy a Benz Vito of Fiat Scudo.
