I’ve had the XF for 2 years plus now, and mechanically/electrically it has been very reliable. I’ve had issues with the sunroof/roof lining/roof though which I suppose to some extent you can explain as first of the model niggles. And the bonus from that is that I am on a first name basis with the Jag service guys…I’d definately have another.

One of the greatest? Asolutely Yes. One of the most reliable? Absolutely not.

I’ve owned more than one Jag and can tell you if you think Jags are reliable you need to think again.
I currently own a 10 year old XKR. I’d still rather own/drive it than absolutely anything else though (except maybe a DBS).

Wheelnut is right. Lamborghini is the tractor company. Wait, isn’t there a connection between Aston Martin and tractors? Maybe we are reading Ben wrong, maybe he is trying to pay Jaguar a complement and it just came out wrong.

I think you'll find that Jaguar which was founded by Sir William Lyons in 1922 [then called the Swallow Sidecar Company] actually started building Motorcycles and Sidecars

Then in 1931 he built and released the the legendary SS-1 [recognised as the first Jaguar car] and changed the name.-He chose the name Jaguar because he believed the car mimicked the big cats poise precision and performance etc.

During the war they reverted back to side cars and other military vehicles then after the war they release the classic the iconic XK120

Sir William Lyons died in 1985 but he did the basic designs for every Jaguar up until the mid 1990s – which Ian McCallum used during his time at Jaguar

So you see there are no Tractors in Jaguars history – you’re probably thinking of Lamborghini

Actually even before, Jaguar is one of the greatest and reliable car. The only difference now is it’s also tagged under fuel economy cars. So it’s not that surprising it’s top ranking in the survey.

Just bcoz Jag is now owned by TATA, does not mean their quality or anything else has changed. Look at Lotus, when they were owned by GM they still managed to make awesome performance cars. Jag is doing the same under its new masters.

I have always said that people only ever refer to surveys when it suits them or it supports their loosely based poorly founded arguement.
If the survey says that their preferred manufacturer is the best then it is deemed to be a credible reference

However; if it doesn’t show their in a favourable light or they didn’t come out on top then the survey was rigged- and thereby is no longer credible.

When in general surveys mean squat because they are often manipulated to achieve a pre determined outcome and if you asked the same questions to another group of people the results would be different.

As the saying goes there are lies; damn lies and statsitics…. [and then there are surveys]

Tata now owns Jaguar and they are renown for curry priced tractors.
Im afraid he’s right… Americans are liars and if they cant make it they fake it.
