Nissan Sway concept car previews design for small Euro hatch

The Nissan Sway concept car will debut at the Geneva motor show, which starts in a week's time.

According to Nissan, the Sway concept is an attempt to parlay the success of its Qashqai and Juke crossovers into the midst of "one of the most important sectors in Europe: the small hatchback".

The Sway is said to provide a "glimpse at how a future generation of small Nissan models could look if the company's striking new design language was applied to a European hatchback".

With the launch of the European Pulsar in the middle of last year, the only other existing hatch candidate is the Micra, the current generation of which (below) first went on sale in 2010.

From the teaser image (top), we can see that the Sway features a U-shaped grille similar to ones employed on the new Murano SUV and Maxima sedan.

Nissan will fully unveil and detail the Sway concept at the Geneva show, which kicks off next week.
