2015 Ford Ranger spotted in Australia

Hot on the heels of pictures from Thailand, a revised 2015 Ford Ranger has been spied undergoing final evaluation in Australia ahead of its local launch.

Spotted here in what appears to be a mid-specification trim space-cab model (cloth interior trim, fog lights and halogen projector lights), the exterior of the Ford Ranger shows a muscular new front-end that takes styling cues from Ford's North American F-150.

Inside the cabin, a similar interior to the new Ford Everest is on show. Ford's SYNC2 multimedia system will be used extensively across the Ranger and Everest line-ups, propelling the commercial oriented vehicles into a newer and modern tech-age.

A new steering wheel and dashboard storage area can also be seen. Removal of the top-positioned small screen in the current Ranger has afforded a new cubby hole for things like coins or phones.

As one of the leaders in this segment, Ford is expected to take an even greater stronghold on the market with the latest updates to its popular Ranger product.

Driveline upgrades developed for the Everest may also flow through to the ute, including a new turbocharger for the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine and a recalibrated six-speed automatic transmission.

The revised Ford Ranger is expected to launch in Australia in the coming months.
