Lotus Evora 400 features more power, less weight, improved entry and exit

The Lotus Evora 400 boasts increased performance, reduced weight, updated front and rear-end styling, and a revised interior.

Set to debut at the Geneva motor show, which takes place at the beginning of March, the Evora 400 is powered by a revised 3.5-litre supercharged V6, which now churns out 298kW of power and 410Nm of torque — up 41kW and 10Nm from the Evora S.

In the manual model power is channeled to the rear wheels via a standard limited-slip differential. The manual Evora 400 weighs 1419 kilograms (down 22kg) and can complete the 0-100km/h dash in 4.2 seconds.

The Evora 400's top speed is said to be 300km/h, a 27km/h improvement on the Evora S.

The updated model is visually distinguished from its predecessors by new wing mirrors, different alloy wheels and a reworked front bumper, which is both squarer and more aggressive than the outgoing model and incorporates LED driving lights.

At the rear there's a new three-part integrated rear wing and, again, the bumper has been given a bit more aggro. Complementing these changes are a more prominent rear diffuser, as well as reversing lights that are now located in the lower corners of the bumper.

The car's sills are said to be 43mm narrower and 56mm lower than the previous model, which should reduce the amount of gymnastic work required to get in and out. Upon entry, passengers will be greeted with a new dashboard, internal door panels, new front seats that are reportedly more comfy, an optional rear pew that's 280mm wider than before, and a new climate control system.

Ahead of the driver is a new magnesium frame steering wheel with red positioning stripe, reworked switchgear, a classier instrument pack and an engine starter button.

Lotus will begin production of the Evora 400 from the middle of this year, with the substantially updated car hitting Australian showrooms from early 2016.
