Nissan 370Z Nismo Roadster Concept debuts in Chicago

The Nissan 370Z Nismo Roadster Concept debuted overnight at the 2015 Chicago motor show, proving there's still a little life left in the Yokohama-based car maker's ageing sports car.

Like the 370Z Nismo coupe that was unveiled at an enthusiasts' event last April, the 370Z Nismo convertible is powered by a slightly more powerful version of the company's 3.7-litre V6. Tuned to deliver 261kW of power and 374Nm of torque, it has 16kW and 11Nm advantage over regular 370Z.

Allied to the extra firepower under the bonnet, the concept car has been fitted with a Nismo-tuned suspension setup and 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/40 Bridgestone tyres.

Externally, the aero body kit on the concept roadster looks to be a dead ringer for the one fitted to the production 370Z Nismo coupe. There are completely reworked front and rear bumpers, which have been fashioned to include LED daytime running lights, an enlarged air intake up front and vents aplenty.

The body kit is distinguished by red highlights on the front lip spoiler, wing mirrors, side sills and rear diffuser-style element. Exterior changes are capped off by a unique-to-the-roadster carbonfibre boot lip spoiler.

On the inside, the Nismo Roadster concept features black Recaro bucket seats with a contrasting off-white faux-suede centre section.

Although the company has yet to officially confirm whether it will make the 370Z Nismo Roadster, it certainly looks like a production-ready proposition.
