2015 Mazda 3 pricing and specifications : Features up, prices down by up to $1150

All variants in the 2015 Mazda 3 range have either been repositioned with lower prices or gained extra standard features as the Japanese brand continues its aggressive start to the year.

Price cuts of between $600 and $1150 apply to all Mazda 3 sedan and hatch variants from the second-tier Maxx up, while the entry-level Neo gains over $1200 in value while retaining its previous pricing. The price cuts are based on 2014 pricing, not the temporary pricing introduced last month that Mazda claims incorporated both the free trade agreement savings and special runout pricing in anticipation of the introduction of the updated-for-2015 model.

The 2015 Mazda 3 Neo adds 16-inch alloy wheels (replacing the old model’s steel wheels) and rear parking sensors, and carries over its existing pricing ($20,490 manual, $22,490 automatic, both before on-road costs).

Rear parking sensors are now standard on all petrol variants of the Mazda 3 range.

The 2015 Mazda 3 Maxx and Touring variants also benefit from the addition of front foglights and price reductions of $600 and $700 respectively (Maxx now from $22,390, Touring from $24,790).

The SP25 2.5-litre petrol and XD diesel variants also all enjoy price reductions: SP25 down $700, now from $25,190; SP25 GT down $800, now from $29,790; SP25 Astina down $1150, now from $35,040; XD Astina down $940, now from $39,290.

Mazda Australia managing director Martin Benders expects the pricing and specification adjustments to help the Mazda 3 maintain its dominant position as Australia’s favourite vehicle among private and small business buyers.

“In a year when the small car segment contracted, all-new Mazda 3 not only grew sales by three per cent, but was the firm favourite amongst private and business fleet buyers,” Benders said, adding that it accounted for 20.9 per cent of this buyer set versus approximately 16 per cent for the Toyota Corolla, which sells in big numbers to larger fleets.

“With the addition of new features and a reduction in price, we expect Mazda 3 will maintain its overwhelming appeal to these buyers in 2015.”

The Mazda 3 made a strong start to 2015, recording 3903 sales to take an early lead over the Corolla, which managed 3472.
