Top 5: Coolest Car Commercials

By George Skentzos |

These ads are impressive to say the least. A prime example of thinking outside the box, pity only three different manufacturers were creative enough to make the top 5.

Let us know if you think another commercial deserved to make the cut. The same process used to create and animate the dancing C4 was also used in the upcoming blockbuster “Transformers”.

My fav commerical isnt really ‘cool’ per say, but its REALLY funny… its one where they have a VE Holden Commodore driving along this road, with quotes like ‘it has better handling then a beemer’ and that at the end, they have this Kookaburra to make themselves look Australian even though the car more than likely have more Korean parts in it than Australian ones.

On a serious note, I like this Mazda 3 one I think it is… where its an Asia chik driving the car and a small crowd of Asian people look across (obviously they are in Asia) and then it seemlessly goes over to an Aussie driving the car and a crowd of Aussies… with the whole punchline being that its a stylish car in any language, playing on its Jap heritage. Its not so much cool but intelligently done.

That Mazda ad is nice. Not ‘cool’, per se, but I have a lot of respect for the design and the message.

The ad that I have in mind again isn’t a ‘cool’ ad, but what happened to the Indian ‘Peugeot 207′ ad? Even an elephant sitting on a car can’t get it on the list?

Elephants on cars have been overdone. :P

Another one I can think of, which isn’t cool but certainly has the ‘how did they do it’ factor is the MX5 commercial where the split the screen horizontally and pan around both the car and a person until he seamlessly ends up in the drivers seat.

that old 350z ad ‘the run’ was a nice bit of stunt driving and showed off the car beautifully, of course with our ridiculous advertising rules we cant see that sort of driving on car ads anymore

Except when they’re on ‘slow down this holiday period…’ ads…

Another ad that I thought was particularly good was the 3 Series BMW ad showing the evolution of the car over the last few decades. I’m not a BMW fan by any means, and I despise the shape of the current 3 series, but that ad was pretty inspiring.

I liked the Hyundai ad with the baby driving, till the idiot regulators reckoned it would start a trend.

The same ad showed the baby surfing and I’m reliably informed that the surf shops are overflowing with babies wanting to buy boards – NOT.

But I don’t support the judges here – TWO transformer ads should not be in the top 5 – they are after all the same, and transformers were done to death 20 odd years ago, so neither of them deserves to be in.

The two Honda ads are totally different.

I realise the BMW ones were all jokes, but that Tyre Pressure Controller would come in pretty useful. Actually seems like a very convenient inclusion. Can’t see how on earth you could actually make one though.
