Free car shows for Melbourne
June 24, 2009 by Matt Brogan
Shannons are hosting free classic cars shows at Melbourne’s Federation Square on the last Sunday of each month untilĀ Christmas.
The series kicks off this Sunday, June 28, with a display of sports cars from the 1920s and 1930s by the Vintage Driver’s Club.
Next month (July 26) will see up to 50 Porsches of all ages and model types on free public display.
1950s and 1960s American cars will follow on August 30, then Volkswagens on September 27, Triumphs on October 25 and Ford Capris on November 29.
Each Shannons Showcase will run from 11.00am until 2.30pm.

Cool I love car shows. Also….if I may…..Mopar Sunday is on July 26th this year. Mopar Sunday is an annual event hosted at Willowbank Dragstrip in Queensland. Go to Moparsunday.com to learn more.
I will be flying down from Cairns for it again this year. For those of you who live for your Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Plymouth no matter how old or new, this is a must for you. There are drags, show n shine, swap meet and a dino challenge.
Last year Mopar Team Racing made a surprise appearance with a top fuel Dodge and ran a 5.1 sec 400m much to the delight for the crowd.
See you there!!
I was there too, awesome day.
Actually Team Mopar ran a 7.17 in their Pro Stock Dodge Avenger. The 5.1 was run by a top fueler. Team Dodge will be back this year too…..cant wait!!
Awesome! This is interesting. Classic car show, sounds intriguing. I haven’t seen a show with classic cars before…I’ll make sure to see one this time.
For all you bloggers in Melbourne, come along. I will have the Camaro there for some events. Come and say hello!
