GTbyCITROËN tours UK before Festival of Speed

June 24, 2009 by George Skentzos

Citroën’s spectacular supercar concept, the GTbyCITROËN, has taken to the streets of central London to visit parts of the ’street circuit’ made famous by the video game Gran Turismo, for which the car was designed.

Incorporating some of the capital’s most famous landmarks, the virtual supercar swapped pixels for pavement as it toured Regent Street, rounded Trafalgar Square and cruised down the Mall past Buckingham Palace.

This public showcase is just a short teaser of what is to come, with the concept set to make its UK show debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed where it will climb the famous 1.16-mile Goodwood Hill as part of the Sunday Times Supercar Run.

The concept is a result of a unique partnership between Citroën and Polyphony Digital Inc., creators of the Gran Turismo game series, which for many will be the only way to get behind the wheel of this one-off supercar.

In preparation for the Festival of Speed, the concept has also been busy completing a lap of honour at both the Nürburgring and Le Mans 24 hour endurance races.

I still think that this is one of the most wonderful looking cars ever to have been made. It’s more dramatic looking than a Lamborghini and it’s cooler because it has a completely unpretentious badge. PLEASE build it Citroen. I promise that I’ll buy one.
I think they should put the new 3.0 diesel that’s in the Jaguar XF Diesel S in it. PSA have access to it, it’s going in the C5 and C6. Please put it in this. With a nice diesel in it, it would probably even sell in good numbers. I also want a V12 though. I look at this car and that’s all I can think of; “V12″. I really want one.

why would they make it LOTUS spec? are you normal? Supercars get at least a wild v8…….with 20.5Litres etc….

supercars aren’t designed for mass production, that’s why they’re super…because they’re not the norm, they’re not the standard.

don’t go over a speed bump!

  4. Frenchie says:

It fits in the genre of 80’s super car. You can’t see much out of the windows, especially the important one (the front)!

  5. Pops says:

Awesome looks. Like an R8 on steroids.

  6. HAL says:

Yep, that is one freaky looking piece of kit. But I can’t help but like it, particularly from the front.

  7. Shak says:

you just cant say no to this car. from most angles its very goo looking, but ditto on the front window, how are you meant to see out of that thing

  8. Steve-Poyza says:

France makes sexy cars. Its just rare that the rest of the world can see that. And when I say sexy, I’m not talking about a C4 Picasso or an Espace. I’m talking about the Laguna Coupé, C5 and so on. Too bad badge snobbery gets the best of everyone.

If Citroën build a production version of this car they will surely show the haters. Just make sure its not front-wheel drive like every other French car! Renault, you better be paying attention here. I want a rear-wheel or all-wheel drive V6 Laguna Coupé. Okay? That with it’s innovative four-wheel steering would be a great handler and a brilliant all-round package. Yummy! :P

  9. crouchy says:

Are they making another Batman movie???

  10. Wilson says:

Crouchy you know I was thinking the same(they should put it in the next BATMAN). thing you know I live in the U.S and just dont understand why dont we have these cool looking cars here you guys in europe really got class for cars I really enjoyed this design definitely an eye catcher.
