Jaguar F-Pace :: British Macan rival shapes up
The Jaguar F-Pace has been caught testing in near-production guise for the first time, confirming it will remain faithful to the C-X17 concept that previewed the SUV in 2013.
Our spies suggest the F-Pace will be similar in size to the 4.7-metre-long C-X17 concept, which will make what is being pitched as a "family sports car" slightly bigger than most of its key rivals - including the Porsche Macan and sister car the Range Rover Evoque.
The prototype features the same muscular body, slimline headlights and bluff front end as the show car, though the windscreen doesn't look as steeply raked.
We know from Jaguar's first teaser image of the F-Pace that it will feature F-Type-inspired tail-lights.
Britain's luxury car brand surprised the world with its unusual name for its upcoming SUV, due in 2016 and said to be inspired by the F-Type sports car.
The Jaguar F-Pace will sit on the same aluminium-intensive platform as as the company's new XE sedan, though the company hasn't confirmed yet whether the vehicle will be offered in rear-wheel drive as well as all-wheel-drive configuration. It will be marketed as more of an on-road-biased SUV to help separate it from models from sister company Land Rover.
Engines can be expected to comprise Jaguar-Land Rover's new range of 'Ingenium' four-cylinder petrols and diesels, while a supercharged V6 and a hybrid variant are also likely.
