FORD FALCON

While our spy photographer is taking a break, rest assured that the general public are not!

The guys over at FordForums recently obtained video footage of two 2008 Ford Falcon Orion utes undergoing public testing in Melbourne. It’s clear that the evaluation utes are fitted with steel trays to disguise design elements of the final product.

If not for the content, the entertainment value alone of the video is worth the watch.

ahahah, i really dont think Ford is enjoying this as much as we are

  • Aeron

Nice work boys!! The ute looks longer than BA/BF and sounds good too when he gives it a boot full. Love the “GO GO GO” too, boys! LOL

  • troy

Is it just me, or did it look like it had full on chrome/black wheels?

The video got a bit of a laugh out of me. Didn’t seem safe at all though, pull over in front of them in heavy traffic. Crazy stuff.

Wish it had a PROPER extra cab with PROPER rear seats. no longer than say 5.2m and just make the tray smaller

I would have one, so would HEAPS of others, look how many extra cabs the Japs sell

  • adam

Yeah and look how holden tried and failed with that idea…

Yeah and look how holden tried and failed with that idea…

Holdens was a dual-cab and not a extra cab

Holden did do a p/rick of a job, no question there.

Ford Oz are now the design team for next generation Japper/Mazda ute, i think they can do a great job!

  • adam

Agreed, but if Holden couldn’t do a dual cab with proper rear seats, how would Ford do an extra cab with real seats?
I really can’t wait to see orion naked…

  • http://www.alborzfallah.com alborz

I notice leaf suspension on the rear.

  • Mr. Pace

  • http://caradvice.com.au eddy

y does hsv copy ford 4??

  • Uncle Eddy

Did You Know That Holden Does Not Acaully Manufacture There Own Engine. They Pay Nissan For The Engine So They Make More Money By Saving and Making Profit. They Have Use The Nissan Engine For Decades and They Copied The BMW for the VE Commordore.

  • http://caradvice.com.au eddy

yesterday when i was at the freeway with the GT-P i saw a ve commoredore and i got scared becuase it looks like a spaceship from the year 2080.

  • Mark MClement

The guys who took that video are legends. Now thats what I call a ford fanatik

  • tbomb

nice job on getting tha video!! funny too!

  • shane p

well just the fact of those guys being there at the right time seems to me that were tipped off

  • Aussie

Good one Ford, we need those type of utes

  • Me.

Hey Ford Australia, those trucks in the video should be for a RTV type. You need a ute that does not have a separate tray that gets used for the XR & FPV range and have IRS like the VE ute. But it looks like Holden dont have a separate tray ute to take on this falcon other than the Rodeo.

  • Duck

    Uncle Eddy,
Where did you get all that information of that holden use nissan engines! I reckon you are making crap up!

  • Oz.

Holden did use Nissan engines for the VK-VL models, but they don’t anymore.

  • Duck

    Thany You OZ.,
For more specific information more than uncle Eddy!, because Uncle Eddy said Holden still use Nissan Engines!

  • Oz.

He said…”They(Holden)Have Use The Nissan Engine For Decades” that’s total BS, It was only the last I6 engine Holden used which was a nissan motor. After that the V6 was a Buick NOT A NISSAN.

  • Duck

Well he did not say it Oz, read what he said!

  • Wheelnut

Uncle Eddy said “They Pay Nissan….” to indicate present tense – that is Holden still use Nissan Engines.
not “They PAID Nissan….” to indicate past tense.

Holden USED the Nissan Engine and Driveline [Diff etc] for the VK-VL only.. Before that it was the old red motor from the VB-VH the and for the VN-VZ they used the old Buick based V6

Where as the Alloytech V6 in the current VE is built at the new facility in Melbourne alongside the various 2.0; 2.2; 2.5; 3.0; 3.2 litre 4 and 6 cylinder engines the HEC export to other countries/car companies – mostly GM

  • Oz.

Duck, I copy and pasted that from Uncle Eddy’s post. Look up and see it.

  • Duck

    Yep, your right!

  • Luke

FFS, the VL was the only one to Use a Nissan motor. You know why they did that/ Because Holden werent going to put the Buick motor in in the Crappy running order it was. Holden are the ones who made it injected, the only reason holden put the Nissan motor in the VL was becasue the laws changed, and it wasnt worth getting the old 202′s to run from unleaded when theuy were already getting another motor ready. The Buick motor wasn’t completely buick, mostly just the block the rest was holden. 2 models later holden completely re designed it and created their own Version the Ecotec, and yes it is different to the point that the Bores are spaced differently, and even the Angle of the V i believe is 1 deg different. Know your shit before you post Crap.
