The 4.5L GM diesel is not for the Hummer H3, but is for the following.
Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon, Silverado, Sierra, Hummer H2, Escalade
The 2.9L V6 diesel will be for the Cadillac CTS, Holden Commodore, Hummer H3, hopefully GMC Acadia, Chevy Colorado

On the Ford side, 2.7 V6 will be increased to 3.0 for Land Rover, Jaguar and hopefully Falcon and Ranger
4.4L V8 version based on existing 3.6 V8 will be for F150, F250, Expedition, Navigator
6.7L V8 for F250, F350

On the Dodge side
4.2L V6 for Aspen, Durango, Dakota, Ram 1500
5.6L V8 for Ram 1500, 2500
6.7L V8 (wont be a inline 6) for 2500-5500

The Range rover 3.6 Diesel is a Landrover/Ford project its got nothing to do with the Gemini agreement with PSA and sorry you won't be seeing in the Territory - 2.7 V6 maybe. Fuel Cells have been Heralded as the new Green Messiah for as long as I have been involved in engine Design 12 odd years, I Have worked with Honda and respect them a great deal but a cannot see anything that will work in the next 12 years especially in the + 1.5 tonne 4 x 4 market. Diesel will be King for the next 10 years But its my job so I would say that wouldn't I.

The PSA Peugeot Citroën and Ford developed diesel V-8 engine is a twin turbo engine. The GM 4.5L V-8 is a single turbo with as you can see from the photo reversed flow heads, the exhaust is in the center V, feedsdirectly into the single VG turbo, and the intake is integrated into the valve cover which have the intercoolers build into them.

4.5L ok not bad but still a massive motor compared to the PSA Peugeot Citroën and Ford developed diesel that gets 199Kw and 640nm from a 3.6L Direct Injection Twin Turbo V8 diesel. This motor is currently used in the 2007 Range Rover. Just hope the PSA DT17 diesel will be put into the Territory!

Hope they put that in the Hummer H3

Only problem for GM is they don't have a 5 speed, car grade auto that will handle that torque

They'll have to buy the Touareg V10 trannie from VW - that already handles more than 700Nm

700Nm of torque is crazy... but 'tree hugging engine'. 1 year after this engine is released (2010) Honda is supposedly releasing a Hydrogen cell vehicle. Now that is tree hugging... not a V8 which brings fuel consumption down from levels that will deplete the earths oil in 30years now in 39years!

Wow 700Nm of torque. From a GM engine. I would have never thought they were capable of designing something like that.

:)
